Bunkka is the title of the Paul Oakenfold record, due out on June 18 through Maverick. The high octane beats found on this 11-song slammer have help from A-list talents such as Nelly Furtado, Perry Farrell, Ice Cube, Tricky and others. According to Billboard.com, this will be Oakenfoldís first solo effort, as the ìOakî was best known for his mix compilation work (Swordfish OST, Tranceport) up until now. The first single from Bunkka (how fun is that word?) will be ìReady Steady Go,î which features vocals from the So Solid Crew’s Asher D, or as the London police now call him ìinmate #123456789.” This pulsating single goes beyond the word ìsmash,î and will no doubt revive the electronic sound at the alternative format, the way The Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy, and Fatboy Slim once did. Oakenfold, complete with a live band, will assist The Chemical Brothers and Sasha and Digweed this summer for five very select dates of nonstop, E-taking, dance-all-night shows.
