The Promise Ring will kick off their North American Wood / Water 2002 tour on April 27 in Minneapolis in support of their fourth full length treat, Wood/Water. The record, which was just given 3 stars by Spin, will be released on April 23 via Anti-, a subsidiary of the Epitaph label, whose eclectic roster includes Tricky, Merle Haggard, and DJ Muggs, amongst others. The now five-piece will make a pair of in-store appearance/performances in Milwaukee (4/23 Miaramr Theater) and Chicago (4/24 Tower Records) to meet the fans and further strip down some of the sounds found on the new record. The Weakerthans have been tapped as the opening support for the tour, which will wrap in late May, before TPR heads off to Europe for a handful of dates with Jimmy Eat World. ìStop Playing Guitarî is the current single that is climbing the college and commercial specialty radio charts and the video should make sweet love to MTV2 soon.
