Members of Rancid, Blink-182, Distillers Form Transplants

Travis Barker (drums) of Blink-182 has teamed up with Tim Armstrong (vocals/guitar) and Matt Freeman (bass) of Rancid, and Tim’s wife Brody (Distillers) to form the punk mega-group, The Transplants. The untitled album will be released in September on Armstrong’s Hellcat Records. According to Rolling Stone, the album contains looped live drums, giving it a drum-and-bass sound rather than Blink and Rancidís trademark straight-ahead punk rock. The Transplants are currently programming and mixing the album and plan to hit the road for a short West Coast tour in July. Barkerís other side project, Boxcar Racer, with Blink guitarist Tom DeLonge, will release their self-titled debut on May 21 on MCA.
