Unreleased Smiths Song Revealed

In what will surely warm the hearts of depression-wracked teenagers and fey indie kids alike, a never
before heard Smiths song has been found. The “long lost” track from the legendary indie
band from Manchester was found amongst the tapes of the band’s drummer, Mike Joyce. He
had opened up his collection to a journalist who was writing a book about the seminal act and it was
at that point the author found the song entitled “A Matter Of Opinion,” which was penned in 1982.
Other items discovered included alternate versions of songs, unreleased instrumentals, soundcheck
and rehearsal recordings and outtakes. However, seeing as Joyce sued the songwriting team
of The Smiths, Morrissey and Johnny Marr, over royalties a few years back
and the fact that is public knowledge that Marr and Morrissey don’t speak, don’t
expect to hear any of these gems anytime soon.
