Basement Jaxx, Fatboy Slim Up For Dancestar 2002 World Music Awards

Basement Jaxx, Daft Punk, Fatboy Slim, Kosheen and
Avalanches are amongst the nominees up for glory at the 2002 Dancestar World
Music Awards. The event will be held on July 3 in London at the Alexandria Palace and
is sure to feature countless dance luminaries. The Jaxx are up for Album of the
Year for Rooty and Best Video for the creepy-ass “Where’s Your Head At,” where
they will compete against Avalanches and their spectacular cut-and-paste gem
“Frontier Psychiatrist.” Daft Punk will try to bring home the Best House Act
trophy, while, unsurprisingly, Fatboy is eligible for multiple awards, including
those for Best Club DJ, Best Video for “Weapon of Choice” and Best Compilation for
his Brighton Beach offering. Brilliant Bristolian breakbeat trio Kosheen
are also in the mix for multiple awards, including Album of the Year for Resist,
Best Breakthrough Act and Best Breakbeat Act, as well. Also nominated this year are
Zero 7, The Streets (check him out on the upcoming Cornerstone Player
#33) and UK garage troublemakers So Solid Crew.
