Indie Fave Venue Brownies To Cease Live Shows

Seminal New York City indie venue Brownies will be closing their doors
for good come August. The venue, which has hosted countless excellent
NYC debut shows by bands such as Elliott Smith, Veruca
Salt, Ben Folds Five, Supergrass, Idlewild,
Presidents Of The United States Of America, Sugar Ray,
Third Eye Blind, Local H and many others, will close for
renovation, reopening as a new bar in the space with the same owners, but
sadly without the live music. No word as to who the final set of shows will
include, but expect some of the finest acts out there to lineup to play in the
wind-down time at Brownies.
