Violent Femmes Singer Nabs Everyone And Their Mom For Solo Debut

Gordon Gano, the whiney and sometimes annoyingly nasal front man for Violent Femmes, will release his debut solo album Hitting The Ground on Cooking Vinyl on September 2. Gano will “get by with a little help from his friends,” as everyone from Lou Reed, Frank Black, Mary Lou Lord, to PJ Harvey and others will contribute in some fashion on the album. From what NME tells us, Gano wrote the tracks specifically for the guest stars and is barely featured on his own record. Everyone was contempt with their songs, except for Lou Reed, who told Gano “I took the liberty of changing a few of your lyrics.”
