If you’re a fan of Warp Records, you have a couple of things to look forward to in the coming months. First off, electro mavens Autechre will be dropping a 2CD EP called Gantz Graf, which will contain a DVD retrospective with three videos on it (including one by twisted Aphex Twin director Chris Cunningham ["Come To Daddy"]), in addition to the 3-track EP. Preorders on Warp’s website for this August 6 release will also receive a 4-sticker set of shots from the video for “Gantz Graf.” If that doesn’t satisfy your Warp jones, then October 1 is the date for you, as Tom Jenkinson is set to release a double album under his Squarepusher guise. While the new material on the Do You Know Squarepusher is only 32 minutes long (including a bizarro cover of “Love Will Tear Us Apart” by Joy Division that Jenkinson himself lends vocals to), the hour-plus bonus CD recorded live in Japan should more than make up for it. Pitchforkmedia tell us that Do You Know is a leap for Squarepusher, integrating odd, noisy soundscapes and spliced vocal samples, versus his usual hectic and harried drum ‘n’ bass attack.
The track list for Do You Know Squarepusher:
Disc 1:
“Do You Know Squarepusher”
“F-Train”
“Kill Robok”
“Anstromm-Feck 4″
“Conc 2 Symmetriac”
“Mutilation Colony”
“Love Will Tear Us Apart”
Disc 2:
Alive in Japan (July 2001)
