White Stripes Cover Mythic Blues Legend

The White Stripes have shown deference to their influences and covered a blues legend as a b-side to their latest UK single. “Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground” is the third release off their stellar breakthrough White Blood Cells, and the single is to feature “Stop Breaking Down” by quintessential 1930’s guitarist Robert Johnson. The track was originally recorded for BBC Radio in London, for Steve Lamacq’s Evening Session, but will now be included on the CD single, paired with a reworking of “Suzy Lee.” “Dead Leaves” drops September 2 on XL.
