Wilco Plan Late Summer Tour, DVD Release

Chicago-based musical masterminds Wilco, who are responsible for creating one of the best albums of 2002 in Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, have announced plans to take their critically acclaimed show on the road next month. Jeff Tweedy and company will get things started on September 2 at Seattle’s Bumbershoot festival and will continue across the country until their October 25 gig at the University of Michigan. According to MTV, The Minus 5 (featuring Peter Buck on guitar) will support Wilco from the launch date until September 12. The Shins and The Boas will also appear with Wilco on select dates. Sadly, the 19-date jaunt does not include a stop in Chicago, but hopefully they’ll surprise their hometown fans at some point soon.

A stop worth mentioning is the band’s September 28 layover in Austin, TX, where they will take part in the Austin City Limits Festival. Other acts scheduled to perform include Ryan Adams, Eyes Adrift, Luna, and The Blind Boys of Alabama to name a few.

Wilco are also the subject of a recently released documentary dubbed I Am Trying To Break Your Heat, which is currently showing in over 60 cities. The film was shot by first-time director and full time photographer Sam Jones, who captured the well-publicized drama behind the recording and eventual release of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. A DVD version of the film is currently in the works and will be released late this year or early next. Check out Wilco’s tour itinerary below.
