Alt-rock pioneers, Sonic Youth are the subject of a new documentary that is set to air on MTV2 on September 8th. The film includes footage from the band’s Murray Street studio in NYC, which was only blocks away from the World Trade Center Towers. Band members Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon take on the role of narrators for the Chris Habib-directed documentary. According to Pitchfork, the sneak peak into the life of SY will also be available for download on the band’s official website beginning in mid-September.
The documentary will be one of two television appearances for the legendary rockers in the month of September, as they will be joining Carson Daly on his late late late night NBC show. So set your VCR/Tivo or plan on not getting much on September 26.
