Strokes/White Stripes Split Single in the Works

In a joint admiration society heretofore unseen since Matt Damon and Ben Affleck were constantly in the news, the Strokes/White Stripes on-going love affair looks to take another step. The bands have played shows together in the bands’ hometowns of New York and Detroit, as well as gigs in Reading and Leeds in the UK, collaborated on stage (Jack White joining the Strokes to play guitar on “New York City Cops” in NYC, and now are in talks to release a split single in the UK. In an interview with the NME, Jack said, “They want to split a 45. We’re thinking about it – it would be cool.” No word as to what label the single would be released on, but the Stripes are heading into the studio in London shortly, so they’d have no shortage of time to record a song for the momentous collaboration. Stay tuned.
