The Shortlist Gets Shorter, Ten Finalists Named Today

The Flaming Lips, The Hives, and N*E*R*D are among the ten finalists named for the second annual Shortlist Prize for Artistic Achievement in Music. As previously reported, a panel of judges, including Beck, Mos Def, Iggy Pop, and Kim Gordon (Sonic Youth), each selected their favorite five albums of the year to create the “long list.” The only criteria each album had to meet were sales of less than 500,000 copies. Each of the judges then selected ten albums from the “long list” to create this year’s Shortlist finalists. According to the official website, the winner will be announced on October 29 at a concert at the Henry Fonda in LA. Check out the Shortlist finalists.
