Ms. Dynamite Shocks Bookies, Wins Mercury Music Prize

Another Mercury Music Prize awards ceremony, another shock winner. Following in the steps of Badly Drawn Boy and PJ Harvey, this year’s winner was not the favorite, The Streets, but instead, up and coming urban artist Ms. Dynamite. The 21-year old singer’s debut album A Little Deeper also beat out David Bowie and The Doves, as well as Cornerstone Player alumni The Bees, Electric Soft Parade, and The Coral. After the ceremony, Ms. Dynamite said she planned on donating her £20,000 check to charity. Stay tuned for news on the US take on the award ceremony, The Shortlist Music Award, which will be announced in L.A. on October 29.
