Blur In-fighting Continues: Now It’s Coxon Vs. Fatboy Slim

Another day, another update in the continuing saga that is the potential disbandment of Blur. Today’s news has on-his-way-out? guitarist Graham Coxon wondering why Fatboy Slim is running his mouth and saying that he was happy that Coxon was not currently in Morocco recording with the band. In an interview on Radio 1, Coxon stated,

“No-one can really say much at the moment – particularly Fat Mouth Slim! Just ignore what he says. I’ve got nothing against him. I don’t understand why he was so tense about meeting me – I thought it was me being tense about meeting him.” The shy axeman continued,

“He doesn’t really know what he’s talking about. He’s come in right at the tail end of an album, and he’s professing to know about everything that was involved with making the album. I’m on the album. I’m just not working on it at the moment. I’ve played lots of guitars in it.” This was in retort to Fatboy’s interview in the NME, where the producer said that he was happy that Coxon wasn’t in Morocco with the band, as the two didn’t get along. “He was the only one that I didn’t feel comfortable with. And when I went into the studio and he wasn’t there, I was basically quite relieved…When we were talking about the album, he was the one who was very suspicious of why I’d be working on it.” This story ebbs and flows everyday, so like the news surfers we are, we’ll be sure to bring you all the changes, wave after wave.
