Alex “Bill S. Preston Esq.” Winter Makes Napster Movie

Filmmaker Alex Winter, whose early roots in show biz found him playing
Bill S. Preston in Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure will write and
direct a TV movie based on the life of music piracy champion and Napster
founder Shawn Fanning. The Hollywood Reporter reports that MTV
Original Movies has the exclusive rights to Fanning’s life story and
that he will collaborate with Winter on the screenplay. Fanning also
plans to executively produce the telepic along with its soundtrack which
will be released through his forthcoming, yet unnamed, record label and,
of course, pirated online by music fans worldwide.
