In news that has been brewing for weeks now, seminal British music magazine Q is reporting that Graham Coxon has indeed severed his ties with Blur. Or had them severed for him, as the case may be. Coxon told the magazine that he has been fired from the band, but that the wasn’t told in person; a manager fired him over the phone. Added to the drinking and mental problems the guitarist was suffering at the time, sounds like a great set of months for him all around. Spokespeople for Blur have refused to corroborate Coxon’s version of events, but it sounds like Graham is gone.
