Sad news from New York City as news filtered out that Jam Master Jay of Run-DMC was shot and killed Wednesday evening. The DJ, who was born Jason Mizell, was inside the lounge of the band’s recording studio in Queens when the senseless event occured. Another man was shot in the incident, but he was only injured in the leg and is expected to be fine. Apparently, the two were shot by two suspects who seem to have been buzzed in through the security door. Mizell leaves behind a wife and three children. As news of the awful incident spread to others in the hip-hop community, respects were already being paid, people saying how important JMJ was to hip-hop and what an inspiration he was to the community as a whole. Sounds like one who will be missed greatly by those who needed him most.
