The Police To Reunite?

Stewart Copeland has told reporters in Milan that an invitation has been extended to The Police to play a concert honoring South Africa’s Nelson Mandela. However, according to the Associated Press, Sting has yet to accept that invitation. Should he decline, Copeland and guitarist Andy Summers are reportedly considering reaching out to Bono to fill in, though between commitments with his own band and his ongoing campaign to win the Nobel Peace Prize, Bono may be a bit busy. An exact date for the Mandela concert, which has been dubbed “Sending Out An S.O.S.,” has not been announced.

This news comes just days after the announcement of this year’s Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame nominations, which included The Police. Will Sting’s hesitance to reunite for the Mandela show mean that the band will also not come together (as is normally expected) for the Rock Hall induction ceremonies? Unfortunately, I don’t have the answer to that one.

Sting is currently working on his seventh solo album and having 36-hour-long love making sessions at his home in Tuscany, Italy.
