Alien Ant Farm Returning To The Stage After Bus Wreck

In May, Alien Ant Farm’s tour bus was involved in a serious accident in Spain, leaving frontman Dryden Mitchell with a broken back, injuring the rest of his bandmates, and killing the driver. At the time, doctors questioned whether or not Mitchell would walk again, but he has overcome the injury and is taking steps to return to the rock ‘n’ roll spotlight. On Saturday (12.07.02), Alien Ant Farm will take the stage at the House Of Blues (Sunset Strip) as part of Drum Workshop’s annual Drum Day L.A. benefit. Although the set will focus on drummer Mike Cosgrove’s skills, it will be the first time Alien Ant Farm will take the stage together since the accident. In an interview with MTV, Mitchell said, “I’m not really nervous. I’m kind of more antsy to just do it. I think differently now about everything. After what happened, it’s hard to be nervous about something that’s fun and trivial.”

Mitchell sounds optimistic though he still lacks stamina and feels that his neck is supporting twice the weight of his head. On his road to recovery, Mitchell and his fellow Ant Farmers have managed to work out nine rough tracks for inclusion on their next album. The band expect to get into the studio in February.
