The Vines Get Booted From Leno After Rehearsal Rampage

Australian sensations The Vines were scheduled to perform on The Tonight Show last night (12.09.02), but those of you who tuned in to see them were likely surprised to find the show was totally Vine-free. It seems that “Mr. Rock & Roll” Jay Leno wasn’t too pleased to find that The Vines had trashed the studio during their afternoon rehearsal and decided to pull the band from the show altogether. According to MTV, Vines frontman Craig Nicholls went on a rampage and started smashing the plexiglass barrier surrounding the drums and continued to cause “general destruction.” Whoever booked The Vines should have had some sort of idea that they routinely “trash” their sets. So they wanted to practice their post-song riot act in rehearsals ñ big deal. They’ve got the money to pay for it.

WARNING to WBCN, WXRK, WHFS, Q101, WRZX, CIMX:

The Vines have been known to cause property damage on stage as well as off. For your own safety, as well as the safety of others, please refrain from including any possible weapons from the band’s dressing room that could aid in the inevitable destruction. Some of these dangerous items include scissors, nail clippers, glass bottles, metal or plastic eating utensils, boomerangs, etc. You should also take steps to remove all valuable items from the band’s dressing room to limit the total cost of the damage. Maybe you could keep the band in shackles until it’s time for their set?
