Happy New Year from The Tripwire. A number of interesting musical happenings occurred over the holiday break, so we figured we’d throw a bunch of them together for you to keep you up to date on anything you may have missed while you were stuffing your face with cookies and rocking Xbox until all hours of the night.


Supergrass will be coming back to our shores for live appearances after a few years away. They will tour on their new album, Life On Other Planets which dropped last year in the UK. The only dates announced so far are three dates each in the New York and Los Angeles areas. More dates to follow…Fine Antipodean rockers The Vines are taking a bit of time off after having a breakdown on the road in December. A number of tour dates have been canceled, but no word as yet as to the status of their early 2003 dates with Capitol stable mates The Music…In seeming response to our own Matt DuFour’s scathing criticism, The Rolling Stones have announced a free concert to help raise awareness of the National Resources Defense Council. The gig will take place on February 6 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles….NME has named Coldplay’s A Rush Of Blood To the Head as their top album of the year and the single of the year as Doves’ “There Goes The Fear.” Nice going, Capitol…Maryland techno genius BT is set to release a new album this year and it is due to feature collaborations galore. Lending their talents to Emotional Technology are The Roots, ex-Marilyn Manson smoocher Rose McGowan, Scott McCloud of Girls Against Boys, Gangstarr’s Guru and JC of ‘N Sync. The album is due out in the spring…Drum’n'bass/pop/dance/you-name-it-combo Kosheen are following up 2001’s brilliant Resist with a new album in March. No title as yet, but the Bristolians are due back on our shores for a tour early in the year…
