The nominees for the 45th annual Grammy Awards have been announced and, for the most part, it’s more of the same pop-leaning drivel we’ve come to expect from that ceremony. However, a few of our favorites have managed to garner nominations. The category of Best Alternative Album pits Beck’s Sea Change up against Coldplay’s A Rush Of Blood To The Head, Walking With Thee by Clinic, Cruel Smile by Elvis Costello and The Soundtrack Of Our Lives’ Behind The Music. Coldplay also received a nod for Best Rock Performance By A Group for “In My Place.” Other bands up for honors worth mentioning are Queens Of The Stone Age, Foo Fighters, Moby, U2, Dirty Vegas, System Of A Down, Groove Armada, Flaming Lips, David Bowie, and The Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen. This year, the ceremony will be held on February 23 at Madison Square Garden. They are about seven million categories in the competition, so if you want to see if your favorite polka band is up for an award, I suggest you check the Grammy site for the complete list.
