Fire At Rhode Island’s Station Club Kills 65

Last night at a Great White show in Rhode Island, a flash fire erupted and killed at least 65 people. The band’s pyrotechnics were responsible for the blaze, reportedly igniting foam on the club’s walls. In addition to the death total (which is expected to rise), 168 people were injured and taken to nearby hospitals, one of which may be Great White guitarist Ty Longley, who is still missing. Only 100 managed to escape unharmed. According to CNN, the club did not have a permit for the band’s fireworks, but that investigators were unsure whether the band, the club or both would be held responsible. Lawyers for the venue, The Station, are claiming they never cleared the use of the pyrotechnics, while Great White frontman Jack Russell insists the club’s manager OKed their use prior to the show.
