As the sons (and one first cousin) of an evangelical Pentecostal preacher, the Kings Of Leon have spent a great deal of time on the road. Keeping with their familiar nomadic existence, the band is gearing up to take a little road trip of their own this spring. On March 25 in Asbury Park, NJ, Kings Of Leon will embark on a near-month-long trek that will take them across the Midwest, East Coast and Southern states. The last five dates of the tour (April 15-19) will see Kings Of Leon paired with rock wiz kid Ben Kweller for what is sure to be an amazing run of great shows.
The band’s debut EP, which was produced by Ethan Johns (Ryan Adams, Counting Crows, Brendan Benson), is so f-ing good that I absolutely can not wait for their full length to be released this summer. You’ve got to watch the band’s EPK (featured on Player .039) to really wrap you head around these guys, but they are the undoubtedly real thing – real Southern kids, a family of Southern kids no less, who simply have a knack for writing great songs.
