Jimmy Eat World Frontman Has New Indie Label For Dessert

Jim Adkins, frontman of Jimmy Eat World, and his friend and longtime promoter, Charlie Levy, have teamed up to create a new Arizona-based indie label called Western Tread. The idea first stemmed from a discussion between the two over the lack of label representation in the Southwest. Levy made the suggestion to start their own label, Adkins quickly agreed, and Western Tread was born. The label has already secured nationwide distribution and online sales at www.stinkweeds.com. The first release on the new indie will be a vinyl version of Jimmy Eat World’s self-titled, multi-platinum selling album, which was previously available on a limited pressing from Grand Royal. The vinyl version will include the bonus track “Splash, Turn, Twist.”

According to a spokesperson for the label, Western Tread’s second release, which will follow shortly after the first, will be an EP from Phoenix, AZ-based, pop-tastic youngsters, The Format. The duo, Nate Ruess and Sam Means, 20 and 22 years of age respectively, have been signed to Elektra and expect a full length to be available next year.
