The headliners for the UK’s biggest music carnival, The Reading and Leeds Carling Weekend festivals, have been announced. NME is reporting that the top bands for the three-day hootenanny are Linkin Park and Blink-182 on one night, Metallica and System Of A Down as a pairing, and Blur and The White Stripes teaming up to rock the house on the third. The bills rotate between the two sites, so the first pairing will hit the stage on Friday in Reading, but Saturday in Leeds, the Metallica bill is Saturday/Sunday and the Blur set closes out the Reading festivities, but kicks it all off in Leeds. Confused? Wait ’til you’re there and been drinking for eight hours. Other bands confirmed for the mother of all festivals include AFI, Courtney Love, The Music, The Streets, Beck and The Datsuns. Tickets are on sale now, so if you’re planning on going, line up your accommodation and tickets soon, as they go fast.
