Toronto-based entertainment company Arts&Crafts has inked a US distribution agreement with Caroline to sell its current and future releases in the US. On June 3, Broken Social Scene’s You Forgot It In People will be the first album released under the new deal and both companies have high expectations. Following a barrage of critical acclaim in their native Canada, a buzz-worthy performance at SXSW, and a Juno award for BEST ALTERNATIVE ALBUM, Broken Social Scene are clearly ready to take on the USA. Though the album won’t be released domestically until June, the album’s first single, “Stars And Sons,” is starting to secure airplay on American commercial specialty radio.
Arts&Crafts, owned and operated by Jeffrey Remedios, Daniel Cutler, and Kevin Drew, has shown exponential growth over the past few moths. The company has quickly developed into a stand-alone record company, artist management, independent distribution, and production house committed to the pursuit of new music industry methodologies.
Arts&Crafts is distributed in Canada by EMI Music and its new deal with Caroline will help tremendously to raise the profile of its artists in the US.
