Takes a lot of gumption to look like a bunch of backwater Deliverance types but create some of the catchiest psychedelic pop around. So it is with the enigma that is Grandaddy. The crew from Modesto, CA, have recorded their debut album for V2, Sumday, which is set for public unveiling on June 10. Prior to that, however, the Central Californians will load all their belongings in a truck and move to Beverly…oh wait, that’s a different story. They’ll jump in a tour bus and pound the pavement, bringing their effervescent pop stylings to the US starting in their own backyard on April 21 in San Francisco. Taking young Pete Yorn with them, they’ll circumnavigate the good ol’ US of A, ending up in Santa Barbara on June 2. Find out what day you’ll be lucky enough to check the ‘Daddy.
