Polyphonic Spree Finish Recording Sophomore Album

The 24-person, robe-wearing band that’s currently sweeping the nation with a tour in support of their acclaimed debut album, The Beginning Stages OfÖ, has already finished recording the follow-up. The Polyphonic Spree, who are generating quite a buzz these days, will release their as-yet-untitled sophomore effort later this year. According the NME, the band plans to sit down and mix the new offering in the downtime next month between the first and second legs of their North American tour. Polyphonic Spree main man Tim DeLaughter spoke to Rolling Stone about the forthcoming release. He said, “Sonically it’s the best thing I’ve ever been a part of, it’s pretty much hair-raising and it’s a really wonderful representation of The Polyphonic Spree two-and-a-half-years later. There’s a story and theme that’s cohesive through the whole record, a lot of hope and aspirations of reaching more and making it through.”

The tour’s first leg will continue through Tuesday, April 29 in LA, where the band will perform on both KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic and later the same day, Jimmy Kimmel Live. The second leg will kick off May 31 in Austin, TX, and will wrap up on June 14 at the Bonaroo festival in Manchester, TN. Check out the complete details below.
