Alt-rock pioneers Sonic Youth have announced a 14-date US tour for this summer. Wilco will join the Youth on six of the 14 dates, including shows in Boston, Philly, DC, and back-to-back nights in NYC’s Central Park. Prior to the band’s June 12 tour kick-off in Asheville, NC, Sonic Youth will take the stage for the second night of the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, CA. The Youth will be supporting both their latest studio album, Murray Street, and the recently re-released, re-mastered 1992 album Dirty. The Dirty reissue comes packed with an entire disc of extras. As previously reported, reissues are also in the works for 1990’s Goo and 1988’s Daydream Nation.
Youth singer/guitarist Thurston Moore shared his thoughts on the reissues with Rolling Stone: “After the years go by, I don’t really pull out any of our records and listen to them. Sometimes they just sound immature to me, personally. There’s moments on Dirty that I find I can hardly even remember where we were at that point.
