Apple To Reveal Details Of New On-Line Music Service

Apple Computers will unveil their new, groundbreaking digital music service on Monday (April 28). As with all Apple products, high-quality design and ease of use are expected to be major selling points for the new service. Billboard reports that Apple’s iTunes player will be the launch pad for the service, offering users access to songs on an a la carte basis. There will be no subscription fee and tracks are expected to sell for an average of 99 cents. Purchased tracks will be downloaded directly to the iTunes music library, allowing the user to automatically sync with an iPod and/or burn the songs to CD. This new service will likely be offered to Apple Computer users only upon its launch.

Licensing agreements with the big five are expected to be part of Monday’s announcement as well. According to Billboard, previously unavailable (via download) music from high-profile artists will be now be available through the new Apple service.
