Elbow Complete Sophomore Album

Manchester art-rock outfit Elbow have named its recently completed sophomore album Cast Of Thousands. The new release will hit the shelves on August 19 via V2 and will feature quite an interesting addition to the CD booklet. NME reveals that the band teamed up with Doves and the entire Glastonbury crowd on the track that inspired the album’s title, and they plan to credit each fan who attended in the CD sleeve. Frontman Guy Garvey told the UK mag, “There’s a song on the album called ‘Grace Under Pressure’ It’s like a mantra. Jimi Goodwin from Doves sings on it. Alfie all sing on it. My brother’s on it. There’s a string section, a brass section. Basically everybody who came anywhere near us is on the tune. It ends with the crowd at Glastonbury last year. I said to the crowd, ‘Do you want to be on the next record?’ and they said ‘Yeah’. So I got them to sing. They sing ‘We still believe in love so fuck you’. There was about 15,000 of them!”

The band plan to credit as many of those 15,000 concertgoers as possible in the CD booklet. Fans who attended are invited to visit the band’s website and leave their names. They intend to include as many names as possible and have figured an approximate 1,000 names per page would be doable at reduced print size. Garvey says, “It’s a thank you to everyone who supported us last time around.”
