The Internet’s most popular downloadable music subscription service, EMusic, has inked a deal with LA-based indie powerhouse Vagrant Records. The agreement will allow EMusic to digitally distribute Vagrant’s catalog as well as new releases to members of its downloadable MP3 service. Beginning yesterday, EMusic users can download full albums from such Vagrant mainstays as Dashboard Confessional, Alkaline Trio, Saves The Day, and Paul Westerberg, among others. EMusic has around 70,000 users who have unlimited access to a catalog of over 250,000 MP3s from 900 leading indie labels in exchange for a low monthly subscription fee. Steve Grady, general manager for EMusic told Mi2N, “In contrast to the other subscription offerings, EMusic is tailored for the avid music fan and we specialize in music from great independent labels.
