“Bling Bling” Not Just Slang Anymore

Those people over at the Oxford English Dictionary sure have a lot of time on their hands. Instead of using their might to keep people from using words like “alot,” “supposably,” “Valentime’s,” or anything else George W. Bush uses in his daily life, the word smarty pants crew are adding new slang to their vaunted dictionary. Now in the online version 20-volume tome is “bling bling.” Yep, you read it correctly. “Bling bling” has joined other hip-hop slang as “dope,” “phat,” “breakbeat” and “jiggy” as official English language words. Originally coined by Cash Money’s BG, the word is now free to use officially in any written or spoken context. Joy.
