U2 Look To Repeat As Ivor Novello Award Winners

Politically-charged veteran rockers U2 and their song “Electrical Storm” have been nominated for an Ivor Novello songwriting award for Best International Hit Of The Year. Robbie Williams’ “Feel” and Avril Lavigne’s “Complicated” were also nominated, but U2 may have a leg up on the competition, as their “Walk On” took home the same award last year. According to Launch, the Ivor Novello awards focus on songwriting rather than a given artist’s performance of the song. The award will be handed out May 22 in London and, because his award cabinets are overflowing, if U2 win, Bono has pledged to give his trophy to an artist who is more in need of accolades. Either that, or he’ll auction it off on eBay with the proceeds going to benefit the Save The Whales foundation.
