R.E.M. Warming Up New Drummer For World Tour

In preparation for their massive upcoming world tour, alternative kingpins R.E.M. have been practicing over 70 songs with their new drummer. Behind the skins for this jaunt is ex-Nine Inch Nails and Ministry drummer Bill Rieflin, but I don’t think you should expect to see Michael Stipe decked out in a patent leather jumpsuit. The band will start their world tour at the Glastonbury Festival in England and run around Europe prior to kicking off the US leg of their travels. Seattle will host the first night of the US tour on September 1 and it will come to a halt on October 11 in their almost-hometown of Atlanta. In the middle of all those festivities, the band and Warner Brothers will release a new greatest hits compilation on September 30. Peep the US dates below, unless you’re lucky enough to get to go to Glasto.
