Martin Scorsese Will Direct Bob Dylan Documentary

Martin Scorsese will direct a film based on the life of folk legend Bob Dylan, which is tentatively titled the Bob Dylan Anthology Project. “I’ve admired and enjoyed his many musical transformations,” Scorsese said in a statement that we stole from AP. “For me, there is no other musical artist who weaves his influences so densely to create something so personal and unique.” The film will be broadcast on PBS and the BBC, in addition to being featured on the silver screen. In 1978, Scorsese directed a concert film called The Last Waltz, which was a documentary about The Band. The “Dylan Project” will feature live concert footage, studio sessions, and an incomprehensive interview with the soft spoken singer. Dylan himself will appear and perform in the upcoming film Masked and Anonymous, which hits theaters July 25. Fans of this Scorsese/Dylan picture will have to wait until 2005, and we still don’t know if Robert DeNiro will make an appearance.
