Live – Gavin DeGraw Tickles The Ivories To The Bitter End

Over the past few years, Gavin DeGraw has made waves as one of the most respected artists on the New York club scene. ?Originally from the Catskills region of upstate New York, DeGraw made his way to New York City in March of 1998, and immediately people began to take note of the 26 year-old singer/songwriter/pianist/guitaristís remarkable talent. Now signed to J Records, DeGraw teamed with producer Mark Endert (Fiona Apple/Tonic/Ours) to record Chariot, the highly anticipated full-length debut, which was showcased last night at NYC’s Bitter End to a packed house.

The intimate and remarkably energetic performance started off the set with “Crush,” an edgy soulful song showcasing DeGrawís tremendous vocal range and impressive piano skills. ?He continued with originals as well as “Cop,” ?a remarkably catchy song new to the New York stage and faithful. Once DeGraw threw in a version of Leanord Cohenís “Hallelujah” that would have left Jeff Buckley awestruck, it became obvious that on this night, the newcomer could do no wrong to a crowd that sang along all night. DeGraw closed the evening with “Chariot,” the title track from his debut, and was met with standing ovation.

Gavin DeGrawís full length debut Chariot will be released July 22nd on J Records.
