Celebratory Yes New York Shows Happening All Next Week In NYC

Next Tuesday (June 3), the Wolfgang Morden/Vice Records compilation Yes New York will hit the streets. The CD captures 15 of NYC’s latest and greatest bands, including The Strokes, The Rapture, Ted Leo And The Pharmacists, The Walkmen, and Longwave. Leading up to and following the release of Yes New York, a number of shows will be held around the city to celebrate. The Witnesses will play a gig at the Mercury Lounge tomorrow night (May 31) and Ted Leo And The Pharmacists will take the stage at the Bowery Ballroom June 1. Hi-Fi (formerly Brownies) will then be hosting a listening party the day of the release as well.

The big CD release show will happen June 4 at the Bowery Ballroom and will feature Radio 4, The Rogers Sisters, and an acoustic performance from Calla. The show’s theme will be “Welcome Home,” as all three of these bands have just returned home from long overseas tour treks. Ted Leo will also be appearing at the June 4 CD release show, but he’ll temporarily be ditching his band for the 1s and 2s and will perform as DJ Ted Leo.

The Rapture and LCD Soundsystem will team up for a gig the following night (June 5) at Irving Plaza, marking the fifth and final Yes New York event in just six days.
