Lollapalooza Nixes Opening Date In Michigan

Revived summer music festival, Lollapalooza, will no longer kick off on July 3 in Ionia, Michigan, due to staging and production issues with the city’s fairgrounds. Lollapalooza will now get underway July 5 at the Verizon Wireless Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana. According to Launch, fans with tickets to cancelled show have the option to attend the the July 18 stop at the DTE Music Center in the Detroit area or receive a refund at the point of purchase. No other Lollapalooza dates have been canceled thus far.

Festival organizers released the following statement regarding the cancelation:

“Jane’s Addiction recently went into pre-production rehearsal for Lollapalooza, and in the past week it became apparent that the production and set for Jane’s Addiction was too large for the stage at the venue in Grand Rapids. It would have been cost-prohibitive to make it work at that particular venue.”
