Sanctuary “High” On Jam Bands

New York-based Sanctuary Records sees potential in the quickly-growing jam band scene and they have taken steps to get involved. The label recently dropped new albums from Widespread Panic and the Allman Brothers Band and, according to Billboard, are in talks to bring Galactic and G. Love & Special Sauce to the family as well. A collection of live CDs and DVDs captured at the new jam band fan Mecca of Bonnaroo are also in the works, as well as last fall’s Jammy awards show (that’s like the Grammys for Jam bands, get it?). On August 5 the label will drop the new Ween and Blues Traveler albums, Quebec and Truth Be Told, respectively. Both of these bands inked deals with the label in the past few months.

In the last year alone, Sanctuary has made a number of new, high profile, signings including Tricky, Morrissey, and Kiss. As mentioned above, they now have their sights set on G. Love & Special Sauce, who have 40 songs written for their next album, and Galactic, who are currently mixing their new Dan “The Automator” Nakamura-produced album.
