Nevermind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols In Baghdad?

Johnny Rotten just never stops being totally bizarre does he? The man born John Lydon has announced that the Sex Pistols want to play a gig in Baghdad. Lord knows that he and his seminal punk outfit have done some wacky things over the years (like reformation after reformation, perhaps?) but this one may take the cake. In an interview with mtv.com, Lydon said, “If you are going to offer these people democracy, then offer it to them in their fullest extreme so they fully know what they’re walking into Because democracy has a few problems, mate, and the The Sex Pistols know that, but at least we can shout out about it, and that might be of some use to them.” Knowing that neither the US nor UK governments would be too excited about this plan, he added, “I am definite about it… The red tape is lining up thick and fast, and the more they put up, the bigger the scissors.” Too strange. Weíll see if Johnny will put his money where his mouth is or if this is just a publicity ploy.
