The Stones’ “Sympathy For The Devil” Undergoes Rock Surgery

The Neptunes, Fatboy Slim, and Full Phatt have all been commissioned to lend their mad remixing skills to the Stones’ 1968 classic “Sympathy For The Devil.” According to Billboard, the remixed tracks will be serviced to international radio on July 21, prior to a scheduled commercial single release on September 1. Virgin will include the remixes on newly pressed versions of the Stones’ 40 Licks greatest hits compilation. A video is also in the works for one of the remixed tracks, though the lucky remixer has yet to be determined. The video will use footage from Jean-Luc Godard’s One Plus One, a film featuring the band performing “Sympathy For The Devil” at London’s Olympic Studio.

As previously reported, the Rolling Stones will perform a free concert in Toronto on July 30 to help draw people back to the ailing city, whose tourism industry came to a near-halt in the wake of the SARS “outbreak.”
