Live – Hipsters Flock To See Canyon In DC

Returning from a mini tour in the UK, Canyon let the good vibes roll during their free show at Fort Reno Park last night. Those who consistently frequent the free summer time shows in DC know the sound can sometimes be suspect, but Canyon managed to come off sounding like they were performing for socialites in a symphonic hall. ?Canyon’s grand front man, Brandon Butler, was more than affable on-stage, providing great one liners to the mosquito bitten crowd.

It was a veritable DC indie meet ‘n’ greet last night as members of Fugazi, all of the Scene Creamers (ex-Make Up), one half of the Apes and other hipster wannabees were on hand to see Canyon perform songs off their amazing Empty Rooms LP. ?Having a camera crew (future dvd perhaps?) on hand with extra lights on the stage helped create a luminescent shine on the alt-country-dylan-meets-neil-indie rockers. ?The five piece currently don’t have any shows lined up, but keep on the look out for these canyon dwellers to be playing out again soon. Also be on the look out for show openers, The Fatales, the first DC area band to hitch onto the Phaser train, combining the best of BRMC and Muse to their show.
