New Bizkit Guitarist Has Got Some Nerve, A Pinched One

Mike Smith, who joined Limp Bizkit back in May, has injured his back during a performance last Wednesday (July 16) at Webster Hall in New York. You know how people get injured while doing seemingly ordinary or routine things – ex. a baseball pitcher wrecks his arm after throwing a pitch he’s thrown a thousand times, or a football player tears an achilles while simply leaping for a pass? Well, such is the case here. Smith, a seasoned veteran of the rock world (former member of alt-metal band Snot), actually pinched a nerve in his back while on stage doing a rock jump. According to NME, Smith managed to finish out the set before having to leave the venue in an ambulance. The injury isn’t too severe but doctors ordered the axe man to take a couple days to help speed his recovery.

Smith signed on with Limp Bizkit after founding Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland not-so-amicably left the band in October of 2001.

Limp Bizkit are currently on tour with the Summer Sanitarium tour. Following the tour’s close on August 10 in San Francisco, the band will return to the studio to finish up their LONG, LONG, LONG-awaited new album. The forthcoming record, which has changed names 27 times since Durst started popping off on his website, is now due in September (if anyone cares anymore).
