Paul Weller Loves Record Labels Again, Signs With V2

The Modfather himself, Paul Weller will sleep better this evening knowing heís got a bit more in the bank account. The ex-Jam and Style Council frontman has inked a deal with V2 Records worldwide. The contract is for multiple albums and comes on the heels of Wellerís 2002 resurrection, Illumination, an album released on Independiente in the UK which gathered much critical acclaim. V2 just nipped Sanctuary at the line, as it was expected the latter had the lead as far as securing Weller, but, obviously that was not the case. Weller will also release a B-sides compilation next month, called Fly On The Wall: B-Sides & Rarities 1991-2000. Wasnít it just a few weeks ago Weller blasted labels as ìscumî and claimed that The Jam and Style Council would have been dropped before reaching their ascendancy due to current label practices? Oh, how the story has changed!
