On August 19, indie vets Guided By Voices will drop their latest album, Earthquake Glue, via our friends at Matador. That’s exciting enough in itself, but GBV will make it a bit more fun for everyone when they include a golden ticket (a la Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory) in 25 special copies of Earthquake Glue. The lucky fans who are greeted with a golden ticket will get a copy of the band’s brand new box set, Hardcore UFOs. The box set is slated for release November 4 through Matador and features six discs of music, including a greatest hits CD, a DVD, a full CD of unreleased tracks, the hard-to-come-by debut EP Forever Since Breakfast, a Matador B-Sides/singles/compilation tracks disc and a live CD.
According to Billboard, GBV have lined up a few live dates in support of Earthquake Glue beginning August 14 in Newport, KY, and ending September 5 in Philly. Along the way, the band will play Chicago’s Goose Island Festival with Sonic Youth and Bob Mould and Magnet magazine’s 10th Anniversary show with the Shins and My Morning Jacket in Philly.
