Youthful, three-brother/one cousin rock quartet Kings Of Leon will kick off a nine-date stint with the Lollapalooza tour today at the Journal Pavilion in Albuquerque, NM. The Southern-bred youngsters will be onboard through the tour’s close in Portland, OR on August 24, but they won’t have long to rest. On September 4 in Philadelphia, Kings Of Leon will start a headlining tour of North America. Australian rockers Jet will be onboard for 19 of the band’s 20 tour stops. The only show that’s “Kings only” is a special Q101 show at the Double Door in Chicago on October 2 (I’ll be the guy in the front row dancing and singing along to all the songs like a big dork).
Kings Of Leon will release their debut album, Youth And Young Manhood, on RCA next Tuesday (August 19). The debut takes a more aggressive approach to the band’s music, better reflecting the KOL live show than their previously released Holy Roller Novocaine EP. Prior to their dates with the Kings Of Leon, Jet will play the Reading and Leeds Festivals in the UK. Their debut full-length, Get Born, will be out October 7 on Elektra.
