Ticketmaster Plan To Sell Best Tickets To Highest Bidder

In a decision that can only reek of money-grubbing greediness, Ticketmaster has announced plans to open up an auction service for their best tickets. Evidently sick of opportunistic fans selling tickets on eBay or actual fans paying face value when Ticketmaster feels they should be paying more for tickets, Ticketmaster will now sell the most prime tickets to events to the highest bidder. Now waiting in line for hours or being the first online to buy tickets will no longer matter, just the depth of your pockets. Arenít there more pressing issues in the world like battling AIDS or world hunger or stopping wars that people should be more worried about than further bilking the general music fan? In an interview with the New York Times, Ticketmaster head John Pleasants said, “The tickets are worth what they’re worth. If somebody wants to charge $50 for a ticket, but it’s actually worth $1,000 on eBay, the ticket’s worth $1,000.î He went on to add, îI think more and more, our clients – the promoters, the clients in the buildings and the bands themselves – are saying to themselves ‘Maybe that money should be coming to me instead of Bob the Broker.’ ” No word yet as to what the financial breakdown from the ticket sales is to be, however. Hooray for paying more for tickets!
